Hey There Butterfly

Hello!

I know it has been way to long since my last post but I finally am moved into my new craft room and finally got my mojo back :)

For this post I'm playing along with the Paper Smooches Trend Watch Butterflies challenge.

I used all Paper Smooches stamps to make this card.  I really wanted to challenge myself and try to create something without exactly having a butterfly stamp to work with, so I made one :)

Here it is:

I used Sunny Side Up for the clouds and the butterfly body (I used the smile and made the oval shape :)),  Autumn Groves for the butterfly flight path, Bee Mine for the butterfly's wings, Pip Squeaks for the flower stems and the eyes of the butterfly, Needle Little Love for the flowers and Sentiment Sampler for the sentiment.

I had such a fun time making this card!  The butterfly made me laugh as soon as I put the eyes on him and the sentiment works perfectly with how he is looking at those flowers :)

Snowman Season's Greetings

I'm back with another post, I just came across the Paper Smooches SPARKS blog and I really wanted to play along with this week's Drafts Challenge.  I really love their stamps and I was excited to combine them with this sketch:

I really love the snowmen from the Swanky Snowdudes and I came up with this card:

It is super simple which freaked me out a bit but I added an action wobbler underneath the snowman.  The snowman is so cute when he wiggle wobbles so I thought it had that special something and didn't add anything else.

Celebrate Neon

Okay so I was sitting here last night and forgot I have another card for the Young Crafters Unite! - Challenge #13 Hot Trends.  I saw this card that Julie Ebersole made awhile back and I really wanted to try to make a card using the confetti shaker technique.

I thought to myself I really want to use bright colors and what is brighter than NEON!  It's so on trend right now and I really wanted to challenge myself to use them.  I knew it could be a bit much so I made sure to tone it down with the white background.  Who doesn't love interactive cards?  Really give me one example....you can't?  That's what I thought;)

Okay so my camera sucks and it didn't quite capture the cards neoness (yep just made that up) but I promise it is really bright in person.  I hope you like it!

Warm Thoughts

OMG she's going for the record, three posts in one day!! (well at least for me)  I figured I was on a roll and I still have much more to share.  The crafting bug has bit me and I need to take advantage before I go into another slump.  (No one likes slumps right?)

Here is a card that is pretty simple and I've really been loving these colors lately so I really like how this turned out.  Hopefully in the next couple of days I'll have another project (nope not a card :0) to share using this color scheme as well.

Okay so I'm loving Lifestyle Crafts embossing folders as of late (swoon, drool and all those other happy things).  They make the sharpest impression without breaking the paper.  I cannot say how happy I was that my local SB store got some in to try.  I follow some really talented ladies (Joy Taylor I'm looking at you:)) and they have used these in the past and made me want to give them a try, all I can say is they are simply amazing.  The one I used  for this card is the wavy one from the Jubilant two pack.  This one isn't going to any challenges, I'm just posting it for fun :)

Happy Barkday! (ISSC30)

Oh my goodness two cards in one day....something must be wrong horribly wrong :).  Just kidding, I finally have time!  Yesterday, I took a bunch of pictures of cards I've made recently, and I just had to share.

The following sketch, to say the least, was a bit daunting.

I knew what I wanted to do for this challenge but I wasn't sure if I could pull it off.  I made an oval lever card with some amazing paper I just purchased.  Lets just say at first I hated it and thought it was way to crazy.

Okay so imagine it without the cute puppy.  You can't?  Well just cover him up with your hand and take a look.....I thought it just looked terrible (without him) but I decided to forage ahead (I spent too much time trying to line up those darn stripes to toss it.....yet).  I added that adoreable puppy and "aaaaahhhhh" (imagine angels singing) instant love.

Here is the inside after you pull the side and the oval flips:

I hope you learn to love it like I do now!

(Do you see my screw up?  Yeah, that pesky stripe..in the middle..cut in half. It gets lost in the fold, I was hoping for a seamless front of the card, oops crappy planning on my part.  I thought I had it right......c'est la vie:))

Woohoo!

I've finally gotten some down time where I can post some new creations.  I've been making cards all summer but haven't found any time to post them.  Too much softball I guess...(wait! there can never be too much softball:))  anyway I've been trying my hand at some new challenges and trying to push my boundaries of what I like and what I don't.  I've been having a really fun time playing around with crafty goodies, but the problem is my room looks like a tornado hit it and I usually need to be organized to be creative.

Sounds crazy huh?  Let me explain, my crafting room is so small and I have stuff shoved into every nook and cranny so when I start crafting I dig it all out to play and you get the picture.  What!? I didn't post a picture? Well hopefully someday I'll be in my very own craft room (not a guest bedroom) and I can share all of its wondrous awesome messiness.  Oh jeeze I started to post about a card and then poof..... where has the time gone.

Globecraft Memories Presents Kathy’s Lily Pond Palette Challenge

My goodness it has been such a long time since I've posted.  I really didn't mean to be away for so long but life has just been crazy.  It's finally turning into summer here in North Dakota and I can tell you I've been waiting to sit outside with an icy beer....ah doesn't it sound amazing?  I am also currently looking to move to a larger home right now a two bedroom apartment is feeling a bit cramped and stale.  Hopefully I'll get my ducks in a row soon and my boyfriend and I will be off to our dream house.

Now for the good stuff.  I made this card to compete in the Lily Pad Cards Globecraft Memories Presents Kathy’s Lily Pond Palette Challenge.  I really liked how it turned out but when my boyfriend saw it he had a completely different opinion about it.  I'll share below :)

So here I am all proud that I created that bottom scallop using Make-the-Cut, and I was all excited that I was going to get to use it on a card.  I thought it was so lovely and in walks my boyfriend.....he goes so that's for someone who is in the hospital due to heart attack or something morbid along those lines and I said "don't you see the sentiment it is a birthday card!"  Then he goes "well I saw the heart and the thing at the bottom there looks like the heart monitor thing so I thought it was a get well card."  Oh boys! (insert eye-roll here:) )  Needless to say I'm a bit self conscious about it but, I still like it so I hope you will to.  Enjoy!

Playing Along with CAS-Fridays

I was pretty inspired by using craft plastic in my last post and when I saw this challenge over at CAS-Fridays I knew I might be able to use it again :)  They are looking for clean and simple baby projects and I wanted to make something that was simply stated.

Please take a look:

 

I found some great white and silver polka dot paper and cut out some butterflies using my Gazelle.  I added craft plastic to the cut out piece and I stamped the sentiment using Mementos London Fog to add that little touch without being too bold.  I adhered this wonderful coral pink paper to the card base and popped up the butterfly cut piece on 3D foam.  I hope you like it!

Playing along over at Young Crafters Unite!

I bought some Clear Craft Plastic a while back and I'm always trying to find new ways to use it.  When I found this challenge over at Young Crafters Unite!  I knew I wanted to play along.

I cut out the heart piece with my Gazelle and adhered a rectangle underneath using the craft plastic.  I used Echo Park's This & That paper on the card front underneath each of the hearts and popped up the heart piece using 3d foam.  What I loved most about this technique is the added stability to the 3D piece and the shine the plastic adds to the project.  Please enjoy!
